Mountain and Camping
Day 1 Fri, 25th of March, Good
Friday
· Meet at Marulan, Hungry Jacks, actually
it is located in Marulan South
· BP Service Centre, Hume Highway
(Southbound), MARULAN NSW 2579
· However, we were late due to water
temperature was too high, 6 bottles of water were filled in.
· We went BP Service Centre, Hume
Highway (Northbound), MARULAN NSW 2579. Which was opposite the road and waited
and looked for 15min.
· Lessons: there are two Hungary Jacks
on both side of the Hume High way. Must confirm exactly in advance.
· Sydney→Marulan→Albury→Wangaratta→(B500)
→East Wangaratta→Everton→Bowmans Forest→Gapsted→Myrtleford→Eurobin→Porepukah→Bright
· Launch at Albury
· Fine over speed 126km/hr. $303.00, 3
demerit point. Lucy there is no double demerit point in Victoria. Fine was
given just across boarder of NSW when pull over Hume Higway to B500 before the
exit of Wangatatta.
· Camped along the bank of a river,
more like a creek. Because we could not find a camping site due to the peak
season of Easter.
· Afternoon visited The Australian
Alps, Horn Summit which is belonged to Alpine National Park. I was wondering
why we did not pay for the entry fees.
Day 2 Sta. 26th of March, Easter Saturday
· Visited Bright and got to know the
story of Chinese Pioneer 100 more years ago.
· Story of gold rush and first Chinese
cabbage plantation
· Fill up, Wolly shopping, a box of
water, $6.59. A bag of ice, #4.00 for 3.5kg
· Emma got lost. Lucy we had walkie talkie.
· Drive in the dust. Omeo(fill up,
sandwich in car) →Beuambra→Lake Omeo→Mariel Valley→Colac Colac(turn right, on
B400)
· Bright→Germatown→Fraburgh→Smoko→Harriville→Hotham
Height (Mount Blowheard 1006m) →Dinner Plan→Cobungra→Omeo(fill up, sandwich in
car) →Beuambra→Lake Omeo→Mariel Valley→Colac Colac(turn right, on B400) →Carryong(turn
right, on C546) →Khancoban(cross border of NSW, on Alpine Way) →Kosciuszko→Marray
Gerge→Thredbo
· Drove whole day after 11:00am till
late8:30pm.
· Camping site (1.5km from Thredbo) almost
full. Found a place which was not good enough.
· Camping was cold in the night
· Toilet was a pitch one
·
Day 3 Sun. 27th of March, Easter Sunday
· 10:30 left camping site. 11:00am queuing,
12:00pm started climbing.
· Launch on the top of mountain.
· 13km return and 6 hours on the mountainous
road. Single trip 6.25km.
· Walking stick helped a lot
· $35.00 per head. Total $70.00
· Took a shower in the swimming pool
at Thredbo. $5.00 per head. Wonderful after
two day without showering, especially after a big day of climbing mountain.
· The Australian Summit 2228 meters
above sea.
· Had a big meal whole group.
Day 4 Mon. 28th of March, Easter Monday
· Left Camping site at 9:00am
· Paid National Park fee for 2 night.
$34.00 ($17.oo a day/night)
· Thredbo→Crackenback→Jindabyne→East
Jindabyne (filled up) →Berridale(dropped rubbish) →snowy mountain airport→Coolrington→Cooma→Bunyan→Bredbo→Michaelago→Williamsdale→Calwell→Hume→Queanbeyan→Canberra→Sydney
· No McDalnald at Canberra and say
Goodbye to other members
· Heavy traffic on some road.
